Racing
• There can only be a maximum of fourteen horses on the field. • There must be at least four horses in a race. This is to prevent horses with a large amount of wins when they haven't faced any competition. • When there aren't at least four horses entered in a race, then we use what are known as 'filler horses'. Filler horses will be placed in the remaining gates, these horses are not actual horses and do not have racing records, they are simply here to keep the game competitive. These horses can either be given names, or be called filler one, filler two, and filler three. • You will be required to keep an accurate account of all the races your horses enter. • Races are held twice a week (Sunday and Wednsday). • Races are run six times per season, that means there are 24 opportunities for your horse to start in a sim year, but since horses shouldn't be run twice in a row it should really be twelve. Horse Performance
• If a horse just recently recovered from an injury, it will probably not preform as well as a horse who is perfectly healthy. • A horse who has run in more races and has more experience will have a better chance of beating a less experienced horse. • A horse with a lot of wins with a high win percentage would do better than a horse who isn't so consistent. Lets say a horse has a record of 39-19-12-8, you take it's wins and divide it by total races, this horse has a percentage of 48%, not bad. But a horse with a percentage of 50% or higher will most likely do better than it. Of course all other factors also play a role in the outcome of races. • If a horse has been worked out recently and has had a lot of training it has a rather good chance of winning a race over a horse with no workouts. • Pedigree does play a role in racing, but a good sure doesn't mean the foal will also be good. Just look at Secretariat, he is considered to one of the greatest race horses of all time, yet when bred, most of his foals didn't even come close to reaching their sire in greatness. That being said, some great racers do produce good offspring, and if a horse has siblings that became great racers, that horse has a good chance of performing well.
Entering a Race
• To enter a race simply reply to the race thread with your horses name. It would also be nice if you provided a link as well. • It is not recommended you race your horse two tines in a row, they will not preform as well as a horse that had time to rest. • A horse can only enter one race per meet. • When entering a race, copy the code in the proceeding post and place your entries, if all gates are filled, simply add more.
Annual Races
• Annual races occur every sim year at the same time. • Over the years annual races may be added.
Triple Crown
• All races in the Triple Crown are by invitation only. • A horse that is invited does not have to race if the owner does not want to, but they can skip races if they choose, a horse does not have to race in the Derby to race in the next two races. A horse can choose to race in one, two, or all three of the races. • This is a race distinctly for the best three-year-olds of that year. • The races are held in the order of, Blackwood Derby, Kennicot Stakes, and then the Halifax Stakes, each getting longer as the races progress. • The Triple Crown is held at the end of summer each SIM year.
