This guide is simply to address simple grammatical errors that I see at times. Errors such as then and than, where and were, and also their, there, and they're. Nothing too extensive, just a small guide to help prevent these simple mistakes.
then & than
One of the most common mistakes I find. Then is used when talking about time. Ex. We then walked down the road. Not too hard right. Than is used when comparing to things. Patty is nicer than Jason. Just keep these things in mind when rping or making a workout and you should be fine.
where & were
These mistakes aren't made as often as others, but I feel it should still be addressed. Where comes into play when talking about a place. Where are you? Where will you go? Were on the other hand doesn't envolve time. Ex. Were you just at Abi's?
there, their, & they're
Oh dear, I find this more than I would like to mention. I find these rather easy to understand but other people seem to have some trouble. There is used when come talks about a place. It's over there. There they are. Their on the other hand is talking about possession. It's their dog. That house is theirs. They're is a conjunction of there and are, if you can place 'they are' in the sentence then they're is to be used. Ex. They're over at Sally's.
whether & weather
Although I almost never see this I feel like I should mention it. Weather is talking about the actual weather. The weather is very nice today. I hate this weather. Whether is used mainly when talking about a decision. I don't know whether or not to go outside.
alot
No, just no. I see this way to much. You don't say alittle or abit, so you don't use alot. That's all I should have to say.
I hope that helps. If you have something you want to add, or mention something you see a lot that you think should be on the guide comment below.
Also, if you wish for something to be further explained or don't understand something, reply below and someone will help you out.
